Momentous Week Sees 40 Millionth Book Shipped, 52 Countries Served

In an unprecedented week of activity, Books For Africa has reached two major milestones! First, the 40 millionth book donated to Africa left our Atlanta Warehouse. Then, in quick succession, we saw our first ever containers depart to Mauritius, Seychelles, and Libya, bringing us ever closer to our goal of serving every country in Africa! In pursuit of our mission to end the book famine in Africa, we aim to reach children and students that would not otherwise have an opportunity to hold a book in their hands.

Books For Africa 2017 Recipient Feedback Survey

2017 marks year two of Books For Africa's enhanced post-shipment survey. This survey collects direct feedback from BFA recipients, allowing our team to assess where we have been most successful, and where there is room for improvement. Last year's report brought great feedback and information, and we are proud to have 100% of respondents agree that the books received are relevant to their programs!

New Library in Wekin, Ethiopia Has Minnesota Roots

Minnesotans Wyn and Sunny Ray share a deep connection with Ethiopia; in 2008, they began working with the remote village of Wekin, Ethiopia. An immediate area of concern for the village was the school “library,” which contained only about 50 English books - in 2013, the Wekin Book Project was born to help put high-quality books and learning materials in the hands of the students and local community.

Merck Partnership Delivers Digital Medical Resources To African Medical Practitioners

August 31st, 2017

Books For Africa has partnered with Merck & Co. to donate 52 tablets loaded with the new Merck Medical Manual mobile app! These tablets were delivered by fellows from the State Department's Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI), and will provide valuable resources to medical practitioners across the African continent.

BFA - Rotary Partnership Program Introduced at Rotary International Convention

Words Change Worlds Fundraising Luncheon Headlines Great Day of Events

On May 18, 2017, Books For Africa held its annual Words Change Worlds fundraising luncheon in St. Paul, Minnesota. This year's keynote speaker was His Excellency Ambassador Carlos Dos Santos, Mozambique’s Ambassador to the United States. We were also pleased to welcome His Excellency Maowia Khalid, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the U.S., and Jeffrey Sturchio, president of the Corporate Council on Africa, as featured speakers.
