Books For Africa Ends Fiscal Year 2025 With Over 2.8 Million Books Shipped—a 78% Increase Over Previous Year

Books For Africa concluded its fiscal year 2025 on June 30 as a resounding success, having shipped over 2.8 million books, valued at $28.5 million, to 36 countries on the African continent—an increase of 78% over the previous fiscal year! This success includes approximately $2.5 million raised to ship these books to partners across Africa.

Books For Africa also shipped a phenomenal 16 Thomson Reuters Law & Democracy Libraries across the continent, along with 163 computers and tablets containing over half a million digital books.

None of this could be accomplished without the help of our supporters and volunteers and we are thrilled to report that our Georgia warehouse hosted over 9,000 volunteers in fiscal year 2025—huge thank you to everyone who made this possible!

“The fact that we were able to ship so many books to Africa despite the dramatic reductions in federal funding for international development programing is testimony to the incredible support Books For Africa receives from private donors around the world – including African diaspora,” said Books For Africa Executive Director Patrick Plonski. “Working hand in hand with our partners in Africa and with members of the African diplomatic corps in Washington, DC has also been critical to our success.  We are also blessed with an outstanding staff, board of directors, and volunteer pool,” Plonski continued.
