A cornerstone of the rule of law is education, from grammar schools through law school. As our dear friend, the late Kofi Annan, former U.N. secretary-general, often said: “For hundreds of millions of individuals, literacy is the bridge from misery to hope.”

Supporting Vulnerable Youth in South Africa

FHI 360's Capacity Development and Support (CDS) Program has been hard at work distributing a BFA shipment of about 40,000 books to vulnerable youth across five provinces in South Africa.  The books have been used to establish libraries, play centers and resource centers and to improve school resources for young people up to age 24.

BFA Sends Books to Schools in Ghana with BetterWorld Trust and Ghana Book Trust

Books For Africa recently worked with BetterWorld Trust to deliver a 40-foot container of supplementary books to Ghana Book Trust (GBT), to be distributed in Ghana. GBT worked with literacy NGOs such as Biblionef Ghana and Rotary Club to make sure the books reached the correct beneficiaries.
