In July, Books For Africa shipped a container of over 40,000 books to support Shakawe Secondary School, a school in the small town of Shakawe in northwest Botswana. Read more about this initiative and partnership, including with sponsor BetterWorld Trust, here!

On Thursday, July 18th, the BFA Atlanta warehouse hosted a group of 30 Mandela Washington Fellow volunteers. As part of their celebration and community engagement in recognition of Mandela Day, Dr. Bezuneh and his team coordinate a volunteer experience with Books for Africa each year.

BFA partner Saida Hassan recently held a Free Book Event in Mogadishu, which drew crowds of people eager to take BFA books home!

On July 12, 2025, Books For Africa welcomed local friends, supporters and African guests for its annual warehouse party.

Books For Africa closed its Fiscal Year 2025 on June 30 very successfully, having shipped over 2.8 million books to the continent—an increase of 78% over the previous fiscal year.

Books For Africa is pleased to have supported Kenya Medical Training College and Ngong Road Children’s Foundation with a recent shipment of books.
