Books For Africa Annual Spring Fundraiser 2026
Books For Africa hosted in Minnesota last week H.E. Constance’s Gaspar, Ambassador from African Union to the U.S., and H.E. Agostinho Van-Dunem, Ambassador from Angola to the U.S. Both spoke at our annual fundraiser.

Her Excellency Constancia A. Gaspar, Ambassador of the African Union to the United States, spoke on the critical importance of books to building futures, saying:
"Africa would not have achieved its current progress without the invaluable support of generous partners and organizations such as Books for Africa. Organizations such as Books for Africa continue to play an indispensable role in addressing the acute shortage of educational materials by supplying millions of books to schools, libraries, and universities across the continent. I am particularly pleased that your donations are tailored to the specific needs of recipient institutions. This innovative and responsive approach enables beneficiaries to access books that are often unavailable or prohibitively expensive locally."

Additionally, we had Success Story speaker, Laura Winkel, CEO of Libraries For Kids International give a wonderful presentation and was later presented with the Kilimanjaro Award.

We were pleased to have them update our Books For Africa community about issues and trends in Angola, and across the African continent. We look forward to continued collaboration in the future with these ambassadors to ship more books to Angola, and across Africa. We raised over $191,000 to ship more books to Africa. Thank you our sponsors: Thomson Reuters, Frank Babka, Dan & Linda Melin, The Stillman Family Foundation, RBC, MGK, Lerner Publishing, In-Kind Sponsor, Modern Press and to all of our donors who helped to make this happen!
