Books For Africa recently heard from Xoli Fuyani, a children’s rights activist based in the Cape Town area of South Africa who recently received books. Her girls have taken the initiative to start a reading club with the books BFA provided.

Books For Africa’s year was filled with milestones, from adapting to COVID-19 to marking the 50 millionth book sent since it began improving literacy and striving to end the continent’s “book famine” 32 years ago.

The Unite For Africa Club at Darien High School in Connecticut spend much of February hard at work collecting books for the Books For Africa warehouse. They originally hoped to collect 200-250 books for BFA. They ended up collecting 15 times that!

Books For Africa has released its FY2020 Annual Report! The report details some of the major successes in a challenging year: shipping our 50 millionth book, assisting schools and medical providers amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and stocking libraries from Togo to Tanzania!

Books For Africa recently achieved something completely new: shipped a container of books out of London to the African continent. With this shipment, London joins other cities around the world including Paris, Hong Kong, Barcelona and Montreal as locations that have shipped containers for BFA projects.
