Gambian Television Covers Arrival of Books For Africa Shipment

With the arrival of a recent book shipment to The Gambia, a ceremony was organized to celebrate the occasion, attended by senior officers from the Ministry of Justice and Basic and Secondary Education. Representatives from Armitage Senior Secondary School were also in attendance. This latest book arrival to The Gambia was coordinated by Books For Africa board of directors member Lang Dibba, who manages the "Million Books to The Gambia" initiative.

Former Mayor of Banjul and Lecturer at the University of The Gambia Samba Faal spoke about the Million Books For The Gambia program, their work and goals. The Solicitor General and a representative from the Ministry of Justice spoke to the importance of the participation of civil society organizations and international partnerships.

A Luanne Nyberg Memorial Library, in memory of former BFA Board President Luanne Nyberg, was also included in the latest shipment, and photos were taken with the plaque. Solar reading lights were also provided courtesy of the Bourke Family Foundation and were much appreciated by the recipients.
