Books For Africa Founder Tom Warth Leads Climb of Barn Bluff in Red Wing, Minnesota

On September 20, 2025 Tom Warth led a fundraising climb of Barn Bluff in Red Wing, Minnesota.  It was a great day and the event was a big success.  Approximately 30 people participated in the event, and approximately $14,000 was raised to ship books to Uganda.  The first container to Uganda is scheduled to depart in December.   Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement!

Following the walk, Tom Warth had the following to report:

“What a wonderful day of walking, having fun and doing good. Supporters who joined us on the climb have ensured that over the next few days we will achieve our goal of raising the 1/3rd cost of the container of 22,000 books for our friend David Mabonga to distribute to schools in the Mbale area in Eastern Uganda.  So many little incidents and happenings. I was lagging behind and saw a man staring at the group.  I explained what we were doing and he gave me $40 for the cause! We had a Sierra Leone native who broke out drumming at appropriate intervals! Before boarding the train at St Paul I gave a Books for Africa pin to the ticket collector and she boarded us as a group before the otherwise long line waiting! Our most excellent Executive Director provided refreshments as we sat waiting on benches under the tress at Red Wing for the return train. No rain and trains in both direction on time!”
