BFA Earns Seventh Consecutive Perfect Rating From Charity Navigator
Books For Africa has received Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for the seventh consecutive year, the highest possible rating. Charity Navigator is the country’s premiere charity evaluator and rates charities on sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency. BFA is also proud to be listed as one of the 10 best humanitarian relief organizations based on our 4-star rating and the impact or our programs!
"Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Books For Africa exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work," Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator, wrote in a letter to BFA Executive Director Patrick Plonski. Thatcher goes on to add that "only 5% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 7 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Books For Africa outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Books For Africa apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.

Books For Africa remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 50 million books to all 55 countries on the African continent since 1988. In fiscal year 2018 alone, Books For Africa shipped 2.3 million books, and 123 computers and e-readers containing 283,000 digital books, to 29 African countries. More than $2.2 million was raised last year to ship these books to the students of Africa.
