Edupower Youth Foundation - South Sudan

Project Goal: $12,000

Current Progress: $6,150 (51.00%)

This project addresses a critical need in South Sudan, where over 70% of school-aged children are out of school and more than 90% of schools have no library. With fewer than three public libraries in the entire nation, access to books is nearly nonexistent for millions. This has created a national literacy rate of just 34.5%, leaving generations without the foundational skills to build a better future.

Our goal is to change this reality by shipping thousands of books to establish and stock community and school libraries to support literacy programs in the most underserved areas. We have a proven model: in our last project with Books For Africa, we distributed over 18,000 books to 22 institutions across three states. This shipment led to the establishment of the Bor Town Community Library, which is now the only active public library in the entire state, the dormant library is now serving over 200+ learners each week.

The impact of this next shipment will be transformative. Each book will provide a pathway to education for out-of-school children, essential resources for teachers, and a chance for adults to gain literacy. We will replicate the success of Bor Town, turning empty spaces into vibrant, active libraries that become engines of opportunity and hope for entire communities.
