Free and Accessible Library Project (Xavier Jesuit School) - Liberia
Project Goal: $15,345
Current Progress: $1,000 (7.00%)
Donate NowFounded in 2020 by the ANW Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), Xavier Jesuit School is a non-profit, co-educational Catholic institution located in Wein Town, a rural community in lower Margibi County, about 20 miles from Monrovia. The school sits on more than 40 acres of land and is deeply committed to providing quality education to children from surrounding communities.
To further this mission, Xavier Jesuit School is partnering with Books For Africa to establish a well-equipped, free-access library that will serve both students and local children. This “open library” initiative will give young people from underprivileged backgrounds the chance to come to campus to study, complete assignments, read for leisure, and borrow books.

The school already has a dedicated library space large enough to hold thousands of books. Shelves will be arranged by reading level; from lower elementary through senior high school, and the collection will be overseen by an experienced librarian. The library will be open to all students with valid school identification, creating a welcoming space for learning and discovery for the broader Wein Town community.
