Empowering Minds: Books & Digital Resources for the Bright Future Generation (Mulugeta Woldetsadik) – Sidama, Ethiopia
Project Goal: $12,300
Current Progress: $4,166 (34.00%)
Donate NowProject Overview
The Books for Bright Future Generation Project is a global online fundraising initiative dedicated to transforming education in Ethiopia’s Sidama region and beyond. In partnership with Books For Africa (BFA), the project will equip primary and secondary schools, college students, and rural communities with urgently needed print and digital learning resources.
Our fundraising goal of $12,300 will cover shipping and logistics to deliver:
- 15,000 donated books
- SD cards preloaded with 3,000 e-books
from the United States directly to Ethiopia.
Project Objectives:
Grounded in data from the Sidama National Regional State Education Bureau, this initiative seeks to:
- Improve Access to Learning Materials
Deliver up-to-date textbooks and digital resources that empower students to thrive academically. - Enhance Academic Performance
Address persistently low pass rates—particularly in Grades 6, 8, and 12 national exams—by providing high-quality resources that improve comprehension and exam readiness. - Support Educators
Supply teachers with reliable reference materials and tools to modernize instruction, especially in STEM subjects where outcomes have been declining. - Empower College Students and Communities
Extend benefits to higher education learners and underserved rural areas, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing beyond the classroom. - Advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Contribute directly to SDG 4: Quality Education—ensuring inclusive, equitable, and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Why This Project Matters
Across Ethiopia, school libraries remain severely under-resourced. Classrooms are filled with eager learners, but too often they lack even the most basic reference books. This knowledge gap stifles potential and limits opportunities for future success.

By bridging this gap, the project will ignite a culture of reading, improve literacy rates, and open pathways to academic and professional achievement.

Target Beneficiaries
- Direct: Primary and secondary school students, teachers, and college students
- Indirect: Families, communities, and the wider educational ecosystem benefiting from stronger literacy and academic performance
Implementation Plan
The fundraising campaign is hosted on the “Donate to a Project” platform at Books For Africa. Once the goal is reached:
- Donated books and SD cards will be shipped from the U.S. to Ethiopia
- Distribution will be coordinated with local stakeholders, ensuring equitable access and impact
Leadership and Vision
