Book Recipients Report Positive Feedback for 2019

The results are in! BFA has collected feedback from recipients in 14 countries for fiscal year 2019.

Participants overwhelmingly reported that the books would have a positive impact on their learning community, with an average of 7,340 students enrolled in school at each community. Since BFA began the survey in 2016, we have received feedback from 138 recipients in 32 different countries. Survey results have comprehensively indicated that BFA books have been rated to be of high quality and useful to recipients.

In fiscal year 2019, the majority of books went to primary and secondary schools, community centers, universities and libraries. The main challenges faced by recipients had to do with customs clearance upon arrival, transportation to rural areas and access to safe storage for the books.

This last year also saw the launch of the Books For Africa publishing initiative, allowing us to custom-print culturally relevant books in local languages. The first project in this initiative delivered 300,000 Portuguese-language books to Mozambique!

Recipient Siphumelele Phetha in South Africa reported, "Our beneficiaries are really excited about the books and they are coming in numbers to our resource centers to access the books and make use of them."
