Donate NowTHE IMPORTANCE OF THE BOOKS FOR LIBERIA PROJECT
Books for Liberia is a practical initiative designed to increase access to textbooks for students in Liberia, with a primary focus on the central region of this West African country.
Traditionally, Liberian students have depended on pamphlets created by their teachers for their educational materials. While these pamphlets serve their purpose, they are not as durable or long-lasting as standard textbooks.
The main objective of Books for Liberia is to ensure that students have reliable and lasting textbooks, addressing the limitations presented by teacher-produced pamphlets and improving the overall quality of educational resources available to learners.

Which Community or Schools Will Batch of Books?
Students in the central region of Liberia frequently depend on internet-based resources to complete their assignments. However, they regularly encounter the challenge of having to purchase data for internet access, which can be a financial burden. Even when students are able to secure a data connection, poor internet quality often disrupts their ability to finish their work successfully. Given these circumstances, the central region has been chosen as the primary focus for this project, as it attracts a large student population due to the presence of numerous high schools and colleges serving more than 64,000 students.
The Main Purpose of the Books and How They Will be Used
The primary goal of providing these books is to alleviate the challenges associated with accessing textbooks for both teachers and students in the central region of Liberia. Currently, there are no public libraries available throughout the entire area, which further complicates the situation for learners seeking reliable study materials.
To address this issue, the project will place a portion of the textbooks in the library spaces of high schools and colleges. By doing so, students and teachers will have improved access to quality educational resources. In order to safeguard these valuable materials, measures will be taken to ensure that host libraries are secure, thereby helping to prevent theft.
Additionally, the project recognizes the unique needs of students whose mobility is limited due to disabilities. As part of the distribution strategy, some of the books will be donated directly to these students, enabling them to benefit from the resources despite their physical challenges.
How Will the Books Help to Support Students, Teachers, or the Wider Community?
I do expect that the books will provide immense support to students, teachers and the wider community by easing the financial burden of buying pamphlets, which often places burdens on students and parents who can barely afford money to buy daily meal, let alone money to buy pamphlets or data for the internet.
