Grand Ethiopian Book (GEB) mission - Library and Youth Development project for Rural Ethiopia
Project Goal: $16,000
Current Progress: $15,884 (99.00%)
Donate NowThe GEB mission started to address textbook and reference materials limitations in school libraries in Northern Ethiopia. Such endeavors will support education that builds next-generation scientists and leaders in the country. The first mission in GEB will target about 10 high schools and 5 universities that need the books the most. The Universities are Debark University, Debre Birhan University, Debre Markos University, Enjibara University and Woldyia University, and the high schools are located in rural areas around these universities.
This arrangement has wide geographical coverage and serves thousands of book-hungry students at different stages. The GEB team will coordinate efforts with Books for Africa in North America, and the Amhara Development Association (ADA) will help to exempt books from tax and deliver them to designated locations from a dry port.
