Volunteer

If you are looking for a fun, satisfying volunteer experience, join us at Books For Africa's warehouse!

At BFA’s warehouses in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Atlanta, Georgia, volunteers sort and pack books according to category and age level. No heavy lifting is involved. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old.

Volunteers give two or more hours of their time and meet on:

• Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia.  Volunteer shifts are 9-11, 11-1, and 1-3. 
• Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minnesota .
• First and third Saturdays of every month from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in Atlanta and St. Paul.  Volunteer shifts are 9-11 and 12-2.

Individuals or groups of up to 80 people are welcome to volunteer at our Atlanta warehouse– check available dates and email deb@booksforafrica.org.  Groups of up to 20 can volunteer at our St. Paul warehouse–please call 651-251-8896.

The warehouse is located off of I-285. Exit Atlanta Road SE and go east for approximately 1 mile. Take a right on Plant Atkinson and a left on Olympic Industrial Drive SE. We are located on the right side of the road about two blocks down.

The warehouse is located in the old Stroh’s Brewery complex that is just north of I-94, just east of downtown St. Paul.

Directions to the Minnesota Warehouse:

From the west, Take the 7th Street Exit (Exit 242C) off I-94 and turn left at 7th Street. Turn left on Payne Avenue. Turn right on Minnehaha Avenue East. Turn left at Stroh Lane into the warehouse complex. The Books For Africa sign is on the dock level of the building. Go into the fenced area and park by the sign.

From the east, Take the Mounds Boulevard Exit (Exit 243) off I-94 and merge right onto Mounds Boulevard. Turn left on 7th Street. Go one block and turn right on Payne Avenue. Turn right on Minnehaha Avenue East. Turn left at Stroh Lane into the warehouse complex. The Books For Africa sign is on the dock level of the building. Go into the fenced area and park by the sign.
