BFA Atlanta Region

Books For Africa Volunteer Appreciation Day
Saturday, April 20, 2013, 1:00-3:00 PM
BFA Atlanta Warehouse – Smyrna, GA
Music from DJ Mascotand food provided by FAD Restaurant

The Atlanta warehouse processes, sorts and ships all of the high-quality books that BFA sends to children and adults in Africa. Demand for BFA shipments has grown so much that the warehouse has had to double its holding capacity in the three years since it opened.

From 2010-2011 alone, BFA shipped over 1.9 million books to 21 countries and BFA expects to send at least 2.2 million books over the next year. For those books to reach African children, the Atlanta warehouse ships anywhere from 20,000 to 60,000 books in an average week.

Smooth warehouse operations are invaluable in BFA’s mission to end the book famine in Africa. With a small staff, the Atlanta warehouse depends on volunteers to sort and pack books. Volunteers made it possible for BFA to send over a million high-quality and useful books to the children of Africa each year!

We rely on volunteers like you to sort and pack the books for our shipments.  No heavy lifting is involved.  Volunteers should be age 12 years or older.  Individuals or groups of up to 80 people are welcome to volunteer. Volunteers range from individuals and families to professional and school-related service groups.

If you are looking for a fun, satisfying volunteer experience, join us at our warehouse!

One fantastic group of Capella University students from the Atlanta, GA, region pitched in at our warehouse in July 2012. Watch the video to see how this stellar group helped BFA in our mission to end the book famine in Africa!
